About the official translation in Colombia
Certified translation (also called –depending on the country– public translation, official translation, sworn translation or certified translation) is the translation of any document, completed by a translator recognized by an official body and called, for that reason, an expert translator or certified translator or sworn translator, among other names.
On the other hand, sworn interpretation is the oral linguistic transfer (interpretation), usually carried out before courts of law (judicial interpretation), for whose content the interpreter is responsible.
Accredited translators and interpreters are given different names, depending on the country. In Colombia, the accepted designation is official translator-interpreter, although government-approved translators are commonly called certified translator or simply official translator. In other Spanish-speaking countries, the denomination varies: public translator (Argentina and Uruguay), the official translator expert (Mexico) or sworn translator-interpreter (Spain).

Traductores.co offers various translation services to individuals, companies, academic entities and official entities, such as:
- Translation of specialized texts.
- Official translation of documents.
- Edition of texts in English.
- Conference interpretation (consecutive and simultaneous translation).
- Translation and publication of books and texts in multiple fields.
Official translations are usually necessary as per request of certain authorities (ministries, courts, academic institutions). The translations become certified once the seal and signature of the official translator-interpreter have been recorded. This gives them the quality of official documents with the same legal validity as the original.
They share this characteristic with judicial translations, as well as the fact that, in both cases, the translator's objective and responsibility is to attest to the content of the original text.
However, sworn translation is distinguished from judicial translation (done for the courts) because it can be done in any context, and from legal (from texts related to law) in that the source text can belong to any topic. In fact, sworn translation is characterized only by the specific format in which it is presented.
Depending on the case, the delivery of a sworn translation can be done in digital or paper format, if it is required to include the original signature and seal of the official translator-interpreter.
